Equivariant harmonic maps between compact Riemannian manifolds of cohomogeneity 1 (Q1313094): Difference between revisions

The author studies the properties of the equivariant harmonic maps between compact Riemannian manifolds that admit isometry group actions having orbits of codimension 1. In this case the Euler-Lagrange equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations. By solving these equations, the author is able to construct some new harmonic maps between higher dimensional Riemannian manifolds. He obtains new harmonic maps a) from 2-flat tori into spheres, complex projective spaces, quaternion projective spaces or complex quadrics, b) from complex projective spaces into spheres, c) from complex projective spaces into other complex projective spaces.
