In [the second author, Commun. Math. Phys. 145, No. 3, 425-433 (1992; Zbl 0765.53021)] and in [the authors, ibid. 150, No. 3, 593-630 (1992; Zbl 0787.53068)] it was shown that on an open dense set \({\mathcal S}^g\) in the moduli space \(\overline{\mathcal S}^g\) of all flat SU(2)- connections on a compact Riemann surface of genus \(g\) there is a Hamiltonian action of a torus of half the dimension of the moduli space. In the latter paper the symplectic volume of this toric variety is computed as the Euclidean volume of the polyhedral image of the moment mapping [following \textit{J. J. Duistermaat} and \textit{G. J. Heckman}, Invent. Math. 69, 259-268 (1982; Zbl 0503.58015)], and the latter is computed by counting the number of \(1/k\)-integral points in the polyhedron, dividing by \(k^{\dim {\mathcal S}^2/2}\), and taking the limit as \(k\to \infty\). This computation is extended to parabolic bundles over pointed Riemann surfaces in this paper, and relations to the Verlinde dimension are discussed.
