We construct a nonseparable analogue of the Tsirelson space, namely a space that contains no subspace of the same density character admitting an injection into some superreflexive space. We relate the existence of injections to the behavior of polynomials on subspaces. The main theorem of the paper reads as follows: Theorem. There exists a reflexive space of density character \(\aleph_ 1\) such that for no closed linear subspace of density character \(\aleph_ 1\) there exists a \(1-1\) bounded linear map into some superreflexive space.
