The author proves the following exponent formula for noncommutative matrices \(A\), \(B\), and \(C\): Suppose \(A\), \(B\), and \(C\) are square matrices such that \(\lim_{n\to\infty}A^n=C\). Then \[ \lim_{n\to\infty}(A+\textstyle{\frac{1}{n}}B)^n= C+\exp^{CBC}-I. \]
