In 1929, Nevanlinna proved the four value theorem that if two nonconstant meromorphic functions \(f\) and \(g\) in \(\mathbb{C}\) share four distinct values \(a_1,a_2,a_3,a_4\) CM (counting multiplicity), then \(f\) is a Möbius transformation of \(g\) with constant coefficients. \textit{G. G. Gundersen} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 277, 545--567 (1983; Zbl 0508.30029)] proved that this result holds if \(f\) and \(g\) share \(a_1,a_2\) CM, but share \(a_3,a_4\) IM (ignoring multiplicity). The author claimed that the Gundersen's result is true if \(a_1,a_2,a_3,a_4\) are small functions with respect to \(f\) and \(g\), where the coefficients in the Möbius transformation of \(g\) are small functions with respect to \(f\) and \(g\). The same fact was proved by \textit{P. C. Hu, P. Li} and \textit{C. C. Yang} [Unicity of meromorphic mappings (2003; Zbl 1074.30002)].
