In the paper under review, the authors study the so-called infinitesimal Newton-Okounkov bodies. Given a smooth projective surface \(X\), point \(O \in X\), and a big divisor \(D\), once can consider the set of all Newton-Okounkov bodies of \(D\) with respect to valuations of the field of rational functions of \(X\) centered at \(O\) - this is equivalent to saying that one considers a flag \((E,p)\) which is infinitly near to \(O\) in the sense that there exists a sequence of blow-ups \(X'\rightarrow X\) mapping the smooth irreducible rational curve \(E \subset X'\) to \(O\). The authors focus on the case when \(X = \mathbb{P}^{2}\), but some of results also work for arbitrary algebraic surfaces. The paper is quite technical and it would be difficult to recall the main results (which are in most cases devoted to a certain rank \(1\)-valuation denoted by \(v_{1}(C,s;f)\)), but in order to see the main motivation behind this paper it is worth to consult [\textit{M. Dumnicki} et al., Commun. Anal. Geom. 25, No. 1, 125--161 (2017; Zbl 1386.14038)] where the authors study a Nagata-type conjecture from a point of view of very general monomial valuations.
