The Kundu-Eckhaus equation \(iu_t+u_{xx}-2| u|^2u+ 4\beta^2 | u|^4u + 4i\beta(| u|^2)_x u=0\) is investigated on the real line by Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent method. Using the Lax pair formalism the authors reduce the problem to the matrix \(2\times 2\) Riemann-Hilbert problem. After its investigation the long-time asymptotic for the solutions of Kundu-Eckhaus equation is obtained.
