The second author proved in [J. Mod. Dyn. 1, No. 3, 465--475 (2007; Zbl 1131.53046)] that on a symplectic manifold of dimension $2$ with induced Poisson bracket $\{\cdot\,,\cdot\}$, the functional $\|\{\cdot\,,\cdot\}\|$ is lower-semicontinuous with respect to the $C^0$-norm, on compactly supported smooth functions. This paper refines the techniques used by the second author in [loc. cit.] and proves the following rigidity claim: Let $M$ be a $2$-dimensional symplectic manifold and choose $p\in[1,\infty)$. Then for $f,g\in C^\infty_c(M)$: \[ \liminf_{\bar{f}\overset{C^0}\longrightarrow f, \bar{g}\overset{C^0}\longrightarrow g}\|\{\bar f, \bar g\}\|_{L^p(M)}=\|\{f, g\}\|_{L^p(M)}. \] The introduction presents the main theorem as a refinement of an earlier result, and discusses natural questions arising from it. The rest of the paper proves the main theorem in detail.
