We start with a Galilei-invariant symplectic model of two charged particles with spin and magnetic moment in interaction, which could serve as a model for the (classical) hydrogen atom. To this model we apply two different versions of geometric quantization and we obtain a hamiltonian operator which is (apart from some numerical constants) the well-known hamiltonian for the hydrogen atom, including spin-orbit coupling (fine- structure) and spin-spin interaction (hyperfine-structure).
