The authors deal with the following inverse problem: given a diffeomorphism \(g\) on a domain \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^K\), find a complete vector field \(f\in C^1(\Omega)\) such that \[ \phi_f(1,x)=g(x),\quad x\in\Omega, \tag{1} \] where \(\phi_f\) is a flow defined by the autonomous differential equation \(x'=f(x)\). They obtain an existence result under the following assumption. Assumption: Let \(g\in C^3(\Omega,\Omega)\) be diffeomorphism, admitting a unique, globally attracting fixed point \(\widetilde x\in \Omega\). Besides, the linearization of \(g\) at \(\widetilde x\), \(A=Dg(\widetilde x)\), has a real logarithm and satisfies \(r^2<\ell\), where \(r\) and \(\ell\) denote respectively the maximum and minimum magnitudes of the eigenvalues \(A\). Moreover the authors investigate dependence of the solution fields from \(g\). An other goal of the paper is to show that for certain values of parameters the Hénon map \(H_{a,b}(x,y):=(a-by-x^2,x)\), \(b\neq 0\) is locally the time one map of a two-dimensional vector field.
