The paper deals with the study of a bifurcation problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the whole space. The abstract results are obtained after establishing a regularity property related to Fredholm operators in an appropriate Sobolev space. The main result of the paper is deduced by applying the Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method.
