The authors set out to describe an alternative construction mechanism for quasiperiodic Delone sets. Starting from a seed (e.g. a cluster of points) and a continuous background field (which is nonlocal), the structure then ``grows'' radially outwards. This is illustrated by several 2D examples. The relation to other approaches is indicated (e.g., in the follow-up article cited), but not fully exploited.
