Inspired by previous works on the local statistic of beta ensembles, the author derives Poisson statistics for a rather general class of gases in the mean field (or high temperature) limit, that is when the number of particles in the gas goes to infinity while the inverse temperature decreases as the inverse of the number of particles. Particles live on a differentiable manifold and are subject to a two-body interaction and to a confining potential on which continuity and integrability conditions are made. Applications are given to Coulomb and Riesz gases as well as to the edge behavior of beta ensembles on the real line.
