    An ideal \(I\) of a ring \(R\) is called \(z\)-ideal if for each \(a\in I\), the intersection of all maximal ideals of \(R\) which contains \(a\), is contained in \(I\). A ring \(R\) is called \(pz\)-ring, if each prime ideal of \(R\) is a \(z\)-ideal. The authors studied the concept of \(pz\)-rings for \(C(X)\), polynomial rings, power series rings and direct product of rings. First they proved that a ring \(R\) is a \(pz\)-ring if and only if each each semiprime ideal of \(R\) is a \(z\)-ideal. For an ideal \(I\) of \(C(X)\), they show that the ring \(C(X)/I\) is a \(pz\)-ring if and only if \(C(X)/I\) is a Von Neumann regular ring if and only if \(I\) is a finite intersection of maximal ideals of \(C(X)\). For a quasi-local ring \(R\), they prove that \(R[x]\) is a \(pz\)-ring if and only if \(R\) is Hilbert ring (i.e., each prime ideal of \(R\) is an intersection of a family of maximal ideals of \(R\)). Also, for each ring \(R\), the ring \(R[[x]]\) is never a \(pz\)-ring.
