A well known question of Goldbach says is any even natural number the sum of two primes? This question is also posed and partially answered for polynomial ring. In this paper, the author does the same thing in the ring \(\mathbb{Z}[[X]]\) of formal power series with coefficients in the ring of integers. More precisely, he showed that an element \(f\in\mathbb{Z}[[X]]\) is a sum of two irreducible elements of \(\mathbb{Z}[[X]]\) if and only if its constant term has the form \(\pm p^k\pm q^l\) or \(\pm p^k\) where \(p,q\) are prime numbers and \(k,l\) are positive integers.
