Let \(\Omega (d_{1},d_{2})\) be the space of polynomial mappings \( f=(f_{1},f_{2}):\mathbb{C}^{2}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}^{2}\) where \(\deg f_{1}\leq d_{1},\) \(\deg f_{2}\leq d_{2}.\) Two mappings \(f,g\in \Omega (d_{1},d_{2})\) are said to be topologically (resp. linearly) equivalent if there are homeomorphisms (resp. linear isomorphisms) \(\Phi ,\Psi :\mathbb{C} ^{2}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}^{2}\) such that \(f=\Phi \circ g\circ \Psi .\) The authors obtain a full classification (there are only finite number of classes) of quadratic mapings (\(d_{1}=d_{2}=2)\) with respect to the linear \ (hence also topological) equivalence. Moreover, they: 1. find a model of a generic mapping in \(\Omega (2,2),\) 2. obtain similar results in the real case.
