This paper proposes a time dependent Schrödinger equation involving fractional operators to study anomalous diffusion in the quantum mechanics of disordered systems. The author regards the work as a first step towards an understanding of anomalous scaling in the dynamics of disordered systems by means of field equations and expresses the hope that the work will stimulate the formulation of a consistent, albeit approximate, theory of anomalous behaviour capable of furnishing predictions or of falsification by experimental results in other branches of physics. A vague relationship with fractal dynamics is also indicated.
