Let \(P_n^d\) be the space of algebraic polynomials of \(d\) real variables and total degree at most \(n\). For any differentiable function \(f\) in \(d\) variables \(|\partial f|\) denotes the Euclidean norm of the gradient of \(f\). For a convex and star-like domain \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^d\) an upper bound for the \(n\)th order Markov Factor in \(L_q\)-norm \[ M_{n,q}(K):=\sup _{p\in P_n^d,\,p\neq 0}\;\frac{|||\partial p|||_{L_q(K)}}{\|p\|_{L_q(K)}},\quad 1\leq q \leq \infty \] are considered. Special attention is given to the question of how the geometry of the domain affects the corresponding estimates. Moreover Bernstein-type inequalities for spherical polynomials in \(L_q\)-norm are given.
