This is an interesting and well-written survey dedicated to the theory of characterized subgroups of the circle group \(\mathbb{T}\). Recall that a subgroup \(H\) of \(\mathbb{T}\) is called \textit{characterized} if there is a sequence \(\mathbf{u}=(u_n)_{n\in\mathbb{N}}\) of integers such that \(H=\{ x\in \mathbb{T}: u_n x\to 0\}\). The theory of characterized subgroups of \(\mathbb{T}\) is interesting because of its close connection with Topological Algebra, Number Theory, Analysis, Descriptive Set Theory, Topology etc. The authors recall the main properties and collect most of the basic results of the theory following the historical line.
