The author gives a classification of all pairs \(H_{1},H_{2}\) of \(n\times n\) complex Hankel\ matrices such that \(H_{1}H_{2}=-H_{2}H_{1}\). Since each Hankel matrix \(H\) is related to a Toeplitz matrix \(T\;\)by the equation \(H=TP_{n}\) where \(P_{n}\) is the \(n\times n\) permutation matrix corresponding to the permutation \(i\longmapsto n+1-i\), this classification is equivalent to classifying pairs \(T_{1},T_{2}\) of \(n\times n\) Toeplitz matrices such that \(T_{1}T_{2}^{\top}=-T_{2}T_{1}^{\top}\). The author classifies the pairs of anticommuting Toeplitz matrices into seven classes and hence gets the required classification for Hankel matrices. Details of the classification are too complicated to give here.
