The authors establish the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of derivations and homomorphisms in proper \(JCQ^*\)-triples associated with the following functional equation \[ f(kx +ky +kz) = k(f (x)+ f (y) +f (z)) \] for a fixed positive integer \(k\). The terminology of `Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability' is derived from the seminal paper of \textit{Th. M. Rassias} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 72, 297--300 (1978; Zbl 0398.47040)].
