Generically algebraic Jordan algebras over commutative rings (Q2491825): Difference between revisions

The author extends the theory of the generic minimum polynomial, norm and trace of finite dimensional Jordan algebras to quadratic Jordan algebras which are finitely generated and projective modules over an arbitrary ring of scalars. With an appropiate definition of generically algebraic algebra, he is able to recover most of the results of the classical theory. The methods involve scheme theory in an essential way, and yield new proofs of classical results as well as new ones, even in the classical setting. Applications to associative and alternative algebras are given by considering the associated Jordan algebra. Here the results seem to be new.
