The authors present an iterative method for solving a nonlinear functional equation \(F(x)=0\) where \(x\) belongs to a Banach space. Halley's process is used and a semilocal convergence result of Newton--Kantorovich type is proved, only fewer convergence conditions are required. An application to a nonlinear Hammerstein integral equation is given.
