\textit{K. Nomizu} [Am. J. Math. 76, 33--65 (1954; Zbl 0059.15805)] obtained necessary and sufficient conditions for a Riemannian manifold to be locally homogeneous. Pinching versions of Nomizu's theorem have been obtained by \textit{A. Katsuda} [J. Math. Soc. Japan 41, No. 1, 57--74 (1989; Zbl 0677.53053)] and \textit{M. Min-Oo} and \textit{E. A. Ruh} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 12, 335--359 (1979; Zbl 0424.53024)]. In the present paper the author obtains a pinching theorem for extrinsically homogeneous submanifolds of a Euclidean space. Also, he applies this result to both the case of orbits of \(s\)-representations and the case of extrinsically symmetric submanifolds.
