Let \(X=\{x_{kn}\}\), \(k=0,1, \dots,n+1\), \(n=1,2, \dots\), be an interpolatory matrix in \([a,b]\) and let \(s>1\) be a real number. The Shepard operators are defined by \[ S_n(f,x)= \sum^{n+1}_{k=0} f(x_{kn})|x-x_{kn} |^{-s} \left/ \sum^{n+1}_{k=0} \right.|x-x_{kn} |^{-s}, \] where \(n\geq 1\), \(f\in C[a,b]\), \(x\in [a,b]\). The saturation problem for these operators has been solved by G. Somorjai in the case \(X=\{k/n\}\). Results in the general case are also known, particularly due to B. Della Vecchia, G. Mastroianni, V. Totik and the author. The present paper solves the saturation problems for a fairly general point system \(X\).
