The main results in the paper under review ensure the existence of a solution for the boundary value problem \[\begin{cases} u^{(4)}(t)-u''(t)+u(t)=f(t,u(t),u'(t)),\quad t\in [0,+\infty), \\ u(0)=u(+\infty)=0, \\ u''(0)=u''(+\infty)=0, \end{cases}\] under suitable assumptions on the continuous nonlinearity \(f:[0,+\infty)\times \mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}\). The proofs combine variational methods with an iterative technique.
