The author sharpens the following result due to A. D. Alexandrov and \textit{Yu. F. Borisov} [Izv. Vyssh. Uchebn. Zaved., Mat. 6(19), 31-39 (1960; Zbl 0105.141)]. A bijective mapping \(\alpha\) of a pseudo-Euclidean space \({}^ kE_ n\) onto itself is affine if it has the following property: for any \b{a}\(\in^ kE_ n\) the image \(\alpha\) C(\b{a})\(=C(\alpha \underline a)\) of a cone C(\b{a}) with vertex \b{a} is isotropic iff C(\b{a}) is isotropic. (This means that \(\sum^{n-k}_{i=1}\) \((a_ i- x_ i)^ 2=\sum^{n}_{i=n-k+1}(a_ i-x_ i)^ 2\) for all \b{x}\(\in^ kE_ n.)\) The author's improvement is that ``iff'' may be replaced here by ``if''.
