    Let \(H=\{h_ n\}\) denote the normed Hermite polynomials and \({\mathcal F}(H)\) the set of all functions f which have Fourier coefficients with respect to the system H. Let \(f\in {\mathcal F}(H),\) i.e. \((*)\quad f\sim \sum^{\infty}_{k=0}a_ k(f)h_ k.\) If there exists \(\tilde f\in {\mathcal F}(H)\) and \(\tilde f\sim \sum^{\infty}_{k=1}a_ kh_{k-1},\) then \(\tilde f\) is called the Hermite-conjugate function of f. The author proves the following. Let \(f\in {\mathcal F}(H),\quad 1<p<\infty,\) and denote by \(\sigma_ n(f)\) the nth Fejér mean of the Hermite-Fourier series (*) of f. If \(\tilde f\) exists, is absolutely continuous on every finite interval and \(e^{-x^ 2/2}\tilde f'(x),\quad (e^{-x^ 2}\tilde f(x))'e^{x^ 2/2}\in L_ p(-\infty,\infty),\) then \(e^{-x^ 2/2}f(x)\in L^ p(-\infty,\infty)\) and \(\| e^{-x^ 2/2}[\sigma_ n(f,x)-f(x)]\|_{L^ p(-\infty,\infty)}=O(1/\sqrt{n})\quad (n\geq 1).\) There are also corresponding results for Laguerre-Fourier series.
