The author studies the Sinai random walk and proves an improved localisation result for it. Whereas the walker after \(n\) steps is typically at a location of a distance of order \((\ln n)^2\) from the origin (which was known), it is shown here that the fluctuations around this location are bounded by \((\ln n)^{3/2}\times(\ln\ln n)^{9/2}\) within this ``valley''. This is a solid mathematical paper but it could have been improved by someone editing the English.
