The authors introduce a new class of asymptotically nonexpansive mappings and study approximating methods for finding their fixed points. They also study the weak and strong convergence of approximations generated by the Krasnosel'skii--Mann-type iterative process, \(x_{n+1}=(1-\alpha_n)x_n + \alpha_n T^n x_n, \;n \geq 1\), to fixed points of total asymptotically nonexpansive mappings.
