    Let \(E\) be an elliptic curve over \(\mathbb Q\) of positive rank and let \(b\) be a rational point on \(E\) of infinite order. For a prime \(p\) of good reduction, let \(\bar b\) be the reduction of \(b\) modulo \(p\). We denote by \(g_b(p)\) the order of the cyclic group \(\left< \bar b \right>\). In this paper, the author studies the distribution of the arithmetic function \(\omega(g_b(p))\), where \(\omega(n)\) denotes the number of distinct prime divisors of \(n\). First, assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis (GRH), she shows that \[ \sum_{p \leq x, \, p \in \mathcal G} (\omega(g_b(p)) - \log\log p)^2 \ll \pi(x)\log\log x. \] Here, \(\pi(x)\) is the number of primes \(\leq x\) and \(\mathcal G\) denotes the set of primes at which \(E\) has a good reduction. Further, she proves, also under the assumption of GRH, that \[ \lim_{x \to \infty} \frac 1{\pi(x)} \# \left\{ p \in \mathcal G\;\Big|\;p \leq x, \frac {\omega(g_b(p)) - \log\log p}{\sqrt{\log\log p}} \leq \alpha \right\} = \frac 1{\sqrt{2\pi}} \int_{-\infty}^{\alpha} e^{-t^2/2} \, dt; \] that is, \(\omega(g_b(p))\) is (asymptotically) normally distributed.
