    Die Lösung der Differentialgleichung der gedämpften Saitenschwingungen \[ \frac {\partial ^2 y}{\partial t^2} + 2w \frac {\partial y}{\partial t} - \alpha ^2 \cdot \frac {\partial ^2 y}{\partial x^2} = 0 \] mit den Randbedingungen \[ y(0,t) = y(l,t)=0 \] und den Anfangsbedingungen \[ y(x,0) = 0, \quad \left ( \frac {\partial y}{\partial t} \right )_{t=0} = g(x) \] läßt sich in der Form \[ y = e^{-wt} \cdot \sum _{n=1}^{\infty } b_n \cdot \sin \sqrt {k_n^2 - w^2} \cdot t \cdot \sin \frac {n \pi x}{l} \] darstellen \(\left ( k_n = \frac {n\pi \alpha }{l} \right )\). Verf. zeigt, daß sich die Lösung als unendliche Reihe von Funktionen darstellen läßt, die in \(t\) die Periode \(\frac {2l}{\alpha }\) haben; die Reihekoeffizienten sind Polynome in \(t\).
