By using the sliding-filament theory of muscle contraction, a mathematical model has been developed in order to study muscle contraction. In this model, the muscle fibre is treated as a continuum of elastic and contractile elements. The existence and uniqueness of the solution of the nonlinear and nonlocal hyperbolic equation related to the model have been established by employing the principle of contracting mapping. This is definitely a significant contribution to biomathematics.
