The authors produce a new algorithm which generate curves of genus 2 over a finite number field, whose Jacobian contains a given number of points. Starting from a real quadratic number field \(F\), they construct a primitive quartic CM field \(K\) and consider the Hilbert moduli space of principally polarized abelian surfaces with real multiplication by \(O_F\). For this space the authors calculate the (two) Gundlach invariants. The forgetful functor gives a map of the Hilbert moduli space to the Siegel moduli space of principally polarized abelian surfaces. Take the pullback of Igusa's functions (invariants), in terms of Gundlach's invariants they calculate the invariants of Igusa. As last step, they use Mestre's algorithm. This approach has more advantages compared to previous existing ones.
