The authors consider a compact Lie group \(\Gamma\) acting linearly on a Banach space \(E\) and equivariant maps \(f:E\to E\), i.e., maps which commute with the action of \(\Gamma\). The equivariant asymptotic spectrum \(\sigma_\Gamma(f)\) and the equivariant spectrum at a point \(\sigma_\Gamma(f,p)\) are introduced for equivariant maps defined on subsets of \(E\) invariant under the action of the group \(\Gamma\). Properties of these spectra are discussed. In particular, both spectra are closed under common assumptions and, if \(f\) is \(C^1\)-smooth, then \(\sigma_\Gamma(f,p)\) coincides with \(\sigma_\Gamma(Df(p))\). If \(L:E\to E\) is a linear equivariant operator, then \(\sigma_\Gamma(L)\) consists of the approximate point spectrum of \(L\) and of the set of all \(\lambda\) for which the restriction of \(\lambda I-L\) to the fixed point subspace of \(\Gamma\) is not onto.
