This survey paper is concerned with some recent results on various symmetry properties of solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations in radial domains via reflection methods. After a short discussion of different notions of symmetry, the author develops the concept of polarization, which is very useful in the context of symmetry problems. These methods are then applied to constrained minimization problems. A special interest is given to problems where the corresponding minimizers change sign and therefore classical arguments do not work. The paper is very well written and this reviewer considers that the paper under review is of great interest for many researchers interested in pure and applied nonlinear analysis.
