The authors are concerned with the Hamilton-Jacobi equation \[ \partial _t u+H(t,x,u,|\nabla u|)=0\quad\text{in } (0,T)\times\Omega \] with boundary and initial conditions. Here, \(\Omega\) is an open subset of a geodesic metric space and \(|\nabla u|\) is the local slope of \(u\). They continue their study about a suitable definition of metric viscosity solution and in particular prove a range of comparison and existence results that apply to a wide range of equations and they present a sample of techniques that the reader can apply in other cases. In particular, for the comparison, they assume sublinearity and superlinearity of the Hamiltonian in the local slope variable. For the case of convex Hamiltonian, they make connections with the value function of the variational problem.
