Let \(X\) be an elliptic curve and let \(S\) be an irreducible normal projective algebraic surface birationally isomorphic to \(X\times {\mathbb P}^1\), all defined over an algebraically closed field \(k\). The author proves that the group \({\mathrm {Aut}}(S)\) of biregular automorphisms of \(S\) is Jordan, i.e., every finite subgroup of \({\mathrm {Aut}}(S)\) is an extension of an abelian group by a group taken from a finite list depending only on \(S\). This gives a positive answer to a question posed by the reviewer [in: Automorphisms in birational and affine geometry. Papers based on the presentations at the conference, Levico Terme, Italy, October 29 -- November 3, 2012. Cham: Springer. 185--213 (2014; Zbl 1325.14024)].
