In this paper, several logics that take into account the possibility of implicit hedging are presented. These logics are called adaptive fuzzy hedge logics and perform a specific kind of hedge detection. Given a premise set \(\Gamma\) representing a series of communicated statements, these logics can check whether some predicates from \(\Gamma\) may be interpreted as being (implicitly) hedged by technically, strictly speaking, loosely speaking or simply non-hedged; they take into account the logical constraints of the premise set and conceptual information concerning the meaning of potentially hedged predicates. A fuzzy semantics (proposed by Lakoff) for the hedges technically, strictly speaking and loosely speaking is modified and integrated in the fuzzy hedge logic \(G_h\). This logic is obtained from the fuzzy logic \(G\) according to the approach presented in Section 3. The actual adaptive fuzzy hedge logics presented in Section 5 constitute the main part of the paper: various logics (such as \(G^r_{h-}\), \( G^m_{h-}\), \( G^r_{ht}\)) are characterized and illustrated.
