Recall that an infinite-dimensional Banach space is \(c_{0}\)-saturated if every closed infinite-dimensional subspace of \(X\) contains a subspace isomorphic to \(c_{0}\). It is a classical result [\textit{A.\,Pełczyński} and \textit{Z.\,Semadeni}, ``Spaces of continuous functions.\ III:\ Spaces \(C(\Omega)\) for \(\Omega\) without perfect subsets'', Stud.\ Math.\ 18, 211--222 (1959; Zbl 0091.27803)] that, if \(K\) is a countable infinite compact metric space, then \(C(K)\) is \(c_{0}\)-saturated. This result was generalised in [\textit{V.\,P.\thinspace Fonf}, Funct.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 13, 66--67 (1979; Zbl 0426.46012)] to the class of the so-called Lindentrauss-Phelps spaces, that is, spaces whose dual closed unit ball has but countably many extreme points. These spaces in turn belong to the class of the isomorphically polyhedral spaces, see [\textit{V.\,P.\thinspace Fonf}, Math.\ Notes 30, 809--813 (1982); translated from Mat.\ Zametki 30, 627--634 (1981; Zbl 0484.46019)]. We also recall that a Banach space is polyhedral if the closed unit ball of each of its finite-dimensional subspaces has finitely many extreme points. It is isomorphically polyhedral if it is polyhedral under an equivalent norm. It was proved in the second above mentioned paper of V.\,P.\thinspace Fonf that separable isomorphically polyhedral spaces are \(c_{0}\)-saturated. However, it is an open problem if every quotient of a \(C(K)\) space, with \(K\) a countable infinite compact metric space, is \(c_0\)-saturated. Recently, \textit{I.\,Gasparis} [Math.\ Ann.\ 344, No.\,2, 491--500 (2009; Zbl 1176.46017)] showed that for every \(1<p< \infty\), \(l_{p}\) is isomorphic to a quotient of an isomorphically polyhedral space with an unconditional basis. In the paper under review, the author provides new examples of \(c_{0}\)-saturated spaces. In order to do this, he extends his above cited result by proving the following Theorem. Let \(Z\) be a Banach space with a shrinking unconditional basis satisfying an upper \(p\)-estimative for some \(p>1\). Then there exists an isomorphically polyhedral space with an unconditional basis which admits a quotient isomorphic to \(Z\). Thus it follows that reflexive Banach spaces with an unconditional basis and nontrivial type, Tsirelson's original space and \((\sum c_{0})_{l_p}\) for \(1<p< \infty\), are isomorphic to quotients of isomorphically polyhedral Banach spaces with unconditional bases.
