This brief paper offers an interesting insight into a selection of the most ``suitable'' model of fuzzy logic by stressing a need to establish some relevant criteria of optimality. The two approaches (viz. axiomatic and pragmatic) are discussed and contrasted. There are a number of case studies raised within this context, namely (a) robustness of fuzzy logic, (b) suitability of fuzzy logic in control problems, (c) rule-based systems and approximate reasoning, and (d) group-theoretic approach to optimization under uncertainty. In each of these cases, the authors discuss the major features of fuzzy sets that become essential there along with the pertinent selection criteria.
