In this paper, where the physical interest appears prevalent with respect to the mathematical one, the authors give many illustrations of physical applications where the general equation (Sine-Gordon): \[ {\ddot \psi}- \nabla^ 2\psi +\sin \psi =F(x,y;t)-\epsilon {\dot \psi} \] has a basic role. Both one- and two-dimensional cases are considered, with particular attention for the 1 D. Many results obtained with procedures quoted in the references are illustrated and discussed, with the aid of diagrams and pictures, with particular attention to the chaos transitions.
