A very clear description of the paper is given by the author in his introduction: ``... the question of stability of the time-varying discrete-time system \(x_{k+1}=A_ kx_ k\) (where \(A_ k\) are bounded linear operators \({\mathcal X}\to {\mathcal X}\), and \({\mathcal X}\) is a normed space) can be reduced to the question whether or not the so-called generalized spectral radius of the sequence \(\{A_ k\}\) is less than one. In Section 2... we will offer several new formulas for computing the generalized spectral radius of an arbitrary (uniformly bounded) sequence of elements of a normed algebra. Section 3 considers the question of stability of perturbed systems. It is shown that uniform power equistability is preserved under small perturbations of system parameters; moreover, it is (in a sense) the weakest stability property which is preserved under small perturbations of system parameters. A characterization of all perturbations which preserve the generalized spectral radius is given in Section 3. A result concerning stability of asymptotically time-invariant systems is also included in that section. In the last section of the paper, Section 4, we study the role of the Perron condition in stability theory. In particular, an ``external'' characterization (i.e., one based on the nonhomogeneous equation \(x_{k+1}=A_ kx_ k+f_ k)\) of the generalized spectral radius of the sequence \(\{A_ k\}\) is obtained with the aid of the concept... of the Perronian of \(\{A_ k\}\).
