This article deals with iterations \[ x_{n+1} = \alpha_nu + (1 - \alpha_n)y_n, \quad y_n = \beta_nx_n + (1 - \beta_n)Q_C(I - \lambda_nA)x_n, \quad n \geq 0, \] where \(x_0, u \in C\); \(A\) is an \(\alpha\)-inverse strongly accretive operator of a nonempty closed subset \(C\) of a uniformly convex and \(2\)-uniformly smooth Banach space \(E\) into \(E\); the sequences \((\alpha_n)\), \((\beta_n)\), \((\lambda_n)\), \(\alpha_n, \beta_n \in (0,1)\), \(\lambda_n \in [a,\alpha / K^2]\) (\(a > 0\), \(K\) is the \(2\)-uniformity smoothness constant of \(E\)), satisfy the following condition: (i) \(\lim_{n \to \infty} \alpha_n = 0\), \(\sum_{n=0}^\infty \alpha_n = \infty\), (ii) \(0 < \liminf_{n \to \infty} \beta_n \leq \limsup_{n \to \infty} \beta_n < 1\), (iii) \(\lim_{n \to \infty} | \lambda_{n+1} - \lambda_n| = 0\); \(Q_C\) is a sunny nonexpansive retraction from \(E\) onto \(C\). (An operator \(A\) is called \(\alpha\)-inverse strongly accretive if \[ \langle Ax - Ay,J(x - y) \rangle \geq \alpha \| Ax - Ay\| ^2, \quad x, y \in C; \] \(J\) is the normalized duality mapping from \(E\) into \(E^*\).) The main result states: if \[ S(C,A) = \{x^* \in C : \langle Ax^*,J(x - x^*) \rangle\geq 0, \;x \in C\} \neq \emptyset, \] then \((x_n)\) converges strongly to \(Q'u\), where \(Q'\) is a sunny nonexpansive retraction of \(C\) onto \(S(C,A)\). The case when \(E\) is a Hilbert space is considered as application. Supposedly, this ``result improves and extends the corresponding results announced by many others''.
