The concept of stability for a functional equation arises when one replaces a functional equation by inequality, which acts as a perturbation of the equation. In the 1940 S. M. Ulam posed the first stability problem. In the following year \textit{D. H. Hyers} [Proc. nat. Acad. Sci. USA 27, 222--224 (1941; JFM 67.0424.01)] gave a partial affirmative answer to the question of Ulam. Recently, \textit{Y. Li} and \textit{L. Hua} [Banach J. Math. Anal. 3, No. 2, 86--90 (2009; Zbl 1192.39022)] examined the Hyers-Ulam stability of the zeros of the polynomial given in the form, \(z^n+\alpha z+\beta=0\), and they raised a question whether the Hyers-Ulam stability also holds true for the zeros of polynomials given in the general form \[ a_nz^n + a_{n-1}z^{n-1} + \dots + a_2z^2 + a_1z + a_0 = 0.\tag{\(\clubsuit\)} \] \textit{S. M. Jung} [Appl. Math. Lett. 24, No. 8, 1322--1325 (2011; Zbl 1217.26023)], using the fixed point theory and an idea from [Zbl 1192.39022], proved that if \(|a_1|\) is large and \(|a_0|\) is small enough, then the zeros of the polynomial of degree \(n\), given in the form (\(\clubsuit\)), are stable in the sense of Hyers and Ulam. In this paper, the authors consider the stability of zero of polynomials and they prove a stability result for functional equations that have polynomial forms.
