Let \(p\) be a prime, let \(P\) be a finite \(p\)-group, and let \(\mathcal{F}\) be a divisible \(P\)-category (also called a fusion system on \(P\)). Then \(\mathcal{F}\) is called a Frobenius \(P\)-category (or a saturated fusion system on \(P\)) if two conditions are satisfied: a Sylow condition and an extension condition. The author considers a third important condition: the Alperin condition which is closely related to Alperin's fusion theorem. He proves: A divisible \(P\)-category is a Frobenius \(P\)-category if and only if, for any subgroup \(Q\) of \(P\) and any subgroup \(K\) of Aut\((Q)\) such that \(Q\) is fully \(K\)-normalized in \(\mathcal{F}\), the \(N^K_P(Q)\)-category \(N^K_{\mathcal{F}}(Q)\) satisfies the Sylow and Alperin conditions.
