The homotopy groups of *-automorphisms of a uniformly hyperfinite (UHF) \(C^*\)-algebra is calculated. This is done both in the topology of pointwise norm-convergence and the topology of uniform norm-convergence. The results are as follows. Let \(B=\otimes^{\infty}_{i=1}M_{p_ i}({\mathbb{C}})\) where \(p_ 1,p_ 2,..\). is an infinite sequence of primes. Let \(P_ F\) be the primes in the sequence which only appear finitely many times, and set, for \(p\in P_ F\), f(p) to be number of times it does appear. Then \[ \pi_{2k-1}(Aut(B))\simeq \times_{p\in P_ F}{\mathbb{Z}}/p^{f(p)}{\mathbb{Z}} \] and \[ \pi_{2k}(Aut(B))=0,\quad k\in {\mathbb{N}} \] when Aut(B) has the first mentioned topology. In the second case the result is \[ \pi_{2k+1}(Aut(B))\simeq K_ 0(B),\quad \pi_{2k}(Aut(B))=0,\quad k\in {\mathbb{N}} \] and \[ \pi_ 1(Aut(B))\simeq K_ 0(B)/{\mathbb{Z}} \] when \(K_ 0(B)\) is identified (by use of the trace for instance) with a subgroup of the rationals.
