In this paper the authors deal with the generalized Fermat equation \(x^2+y^3= z^{15}\). They prove that the only primitive integer solutions of this equation are \((\pm 1,-1,0)\), \((\pm 1,0,1)\), \((0,1,1)\), \((0,-1,-1)\) and \((\pm 3, -2,1)\). They use the parametrization of the solutions to \(x^2+y^3= z^3\) and reduce the above problem to the same problem for six equations of the form \(w^5 = f(u,v)\), where \(f(u,v)\) is a binary quartic form. Finally, using a descent step, they reduce the problem to that of finding rational points on some hyperelliptic curves of genus 2 or 4.
