The present paper is a very nice contribution to the theory of spectral and \(K\)-spectral sets. The obtained results generalize and complement results by \textit{V. Mascioni} [Houston J. Math. 20, No. 2, 299--311 (1994; Zbl 0819.46038)], \textit{M. I. Stessin} [Colloq. Math. 81, No. 2, 271--284 (1999; Zbl 0980.30026)], \textit{J. G. Stampfli} [J. Oper. Theory 16, 235--243 (1986; Zbl 0629.47004); Integral Equations Oper. Theory 13, No. 3, 421--432 (1990; Zbl 0721.47011)], Badea-Beckerman-Crouzeix [\textit{C. Badea} et al., Commun. Pure Appl. Anal. 8, No. 1, 37--54 (2009; Zbl 1169.47008)] and others. A~theorem of \textit{M. Putinar} and \textit{S. Sandberg} [Math. Ann. 331, No. 2, 345--357 (2005; Zbl 1085.47007)] about skew dilations (independently proved by \textit{B. Delyon} and \textit{F. Delyon} [Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 127, No. 1, 25--41 (1999; Zbl 0937.47004)]) is extended to non-convex domains. To give a sample of the results proved in this paper, we cite the following result. Under a geometric transversality condition, the intersection of finitely many \(K'\)-spectral sets for a Hilbert space operator is again \(K\)-spectral for some \(K \geq K'\).
