Let \(A\) be an \(n\times n\) matrix over an arbitrary field \(F\). The commutant of \(A\) is the set of all \(n\times n\) matrices which commute with \(A.\) The authors prove that the matrices in the commutant can be simultaneously triangularized over \(F\) if and only if \(A\) can be triangularized over \(F\) and no two Jordan blocks of \(A\) are equal.
